This cross has been decorated with flowers to make it look beautiful. This can have two meanings for us. It can mean that to us the cross, an instrument of torture and execution, has a special beauty for those who believe in Jesus because the cross reminds us of the price Jesus paid for our salvation. It can also mean that we can easily forget what it cost Jesus to pay for our sin, and treat the cross as an ornament or a piece of jewellery. We need to wear the cross of Jesus in our lives and not around our necks. (330)
